Artist Statement

Do you ever stop and think about how you came to love something? Maybe it’s a particular color, a room in the house, a special person or a favorite place to visit. I often say “I never met a color I didn’t like”, but this sentiment didn’t come from nowhere. It came from a particular class I took in college. My love of mountains and open skies came from long road trips to Pennsylvania as a kid. We didn’t have electronics to keep us occupied for 13 hours, but my dad played ABBA music on the 8 track player and my mom kept us entertained with games, coloring and many calls to “look at the view.” It’s little moments like these that seem small, but create the fabric of our lives.

I’d like to believe my husband and I created some of these first loves for our kids, amidst the laughs, chaos and struggles. Now that they are grown I am more deeply drawn into things I did, things I wish I hadn’t done and all the things that are still ahead. So here I am. A new threshold ahead of me. Feet on the ground and looking into the sky. There are possibilities everywhere.

I have curated this special collection from years of creating my artworks, mobiles and sculptures to capture those invisible lines connecting the tangible to the possible. Every color I select, shape I choose and mark I make has a purpose. I endeavor to bring something unseen into your visual world, then I imagine you stepping into the place I have created. I invite you explore the surfaces and ponder the possibilities of directions and combinations. I want the work to spark a wonder about where it all came from and think about when you first fell in love with art.
